The pictures of the 20 bani 1876 pattern above are present on Romanian coins through the kind permission of Mr. J. Ardelean.
The Sebillot alloy is made of copper, nickel and zinc. It is a sort of nickel silver, or maillechort in French. The name most likely comes from the French engineer Amédée Mathurin Gabriel Sébillot, nowadays known as an inventor (several patents bearing his name can be found on the Internet), as author of technical books and especially as the creator of one of the projects that competed for the erection of the central tower of the Paris World Exhibition of 1889 (Exposition universelle de 1889). The Exhibition marked the Centenary of the French Revolution. The competition was won by the thereafter famous Alexandre Gustave Eiffel.
On the web pictures with a very similar pattern exist - only the coat of arms differs, belonging to Greece, and face value - 20 lepta instead of 20 bani (pattern erroneously attributed to Italy).
