The paper and cardboard factory from Piatra Neamţ was established in 1908 by Gustav Eichler. In 1928 the name of the factory was Societatea Anonimă Română pentru Industria Lemnului şi Hîrtiei (Romanian Joint-stock Company for Wood and Paper Industry). During the communist period it was renamed Fabrica de hîrtie şi cartoane Comuna din Paris ("Paris Commune" Paper and Cardboard Factory, since 1948). After 1990 the company became S.C. Petrocart S.A. Piatra Neamţ.
